Island Girl is a potcake

Being essentially a flat strip of land bounded by trees and fences, the beltline is confining for a dog of Island Girl’s energy and passions and, as well, provides only ditches and puddles for her to cool off in. So, we nearly always, these days, catch a Yonge bus north to Muir Park, then follow the paths that follow Burke Brook through Blythewood Ravine and Sherwood Park.

These shots were taken in Kay Gardner Beltline Park. Once a rail line, this 4.5-kilometer strip of parkland twists westward from Mount Pleasant Road to the Allen Expressway. Because Island Girl lives nearby, she is often taken there, so knows a good stretch of it like the back of her paw. Squirrels are on high alert when she’s in the vicinity.
